John Kurtz at Madison Millinger

Despite the heat, Portland’s interior design community joined us for a very lively and informative presentation by New Moon founder and designer, John Kurtz. John had just flown in from the East Coast, but happily shared many of New Moon’s incredibly beautiful rugs, talked at length about color and design, and gave his thoughts on current trends. He also spoke about the history and origins of many of his traditional and tribal designs, and even talked about the rug-making process, which has been virtually unchanged for thousands of years. Afterwards everyone enjoyed appetizers and cocktails in Madison Millinger’s showroom, beautifully-lit by the late summer sun.

Megerian Goes Green

Megerian Rugs, one of more than 16 incredible rug lines available at Madison Millinger, is unveiling their new green initiative by utilizing environmentally friendly dyes and processes in the production of their new line of fine handmade rugs.

The natural dyes are derived from flowers, roots, and plants from the Armenian highlands and are never tainted with dangerous heavy metals as in many synthetic dyes currently in use today. Other than being environmentally friendly, the vegetable dyes ensure vibrant, long lasting colors that reflect the region from which they were gathered. The manufacturing process of these rugs is also extremely environmentally friendly – every step, from the cleaning to the weaving, is chemical, pollutant, and preservative free, ensuring a safe product for the health of your home.

Megerian Rugs

We applaud Megerian on their efforts to further enhance the “green” aspects of their fine rug manufacturing. Please visit our showroom to view samples of the Megerian collection, and all of our other eco-luxurious rug collections.
