GENERAL RUG CARE
Vacuuming
Oriental rugs should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove and lessen the build up of abrasive dirt. Take care to not catch fringes in vacuums.
Rotating
To even out soiling and wear, rotate rugs every six months to a year when possible.
Padding
Appropriate padding extends the life of a rug and prevents a rug from slipping or buckling.
Restoration
Prompt attention to frayed and damaged areas can protect the value and beauty of your rug for generations.

Washing
Professional hand washing is recommended every 2-4 years depending on use. One desirable attribute of Oriental rugs is their ability to hide soiling and often look cleaner than they really are.
Storage
Oriental rugs should never be stored dirty. Soils can oxidize making them difficult or impossible to remove. Rugs should be stored in paper or other similar breathable material. Plastic should never be used to store rugs.

SPOT CLEANING TIPS
Due to the uniqueness of Oriental rugs and the degree of expertise with which these spotting instructions may be used. We make no guarantee of the effectiveness, and assume no responsibility related to the use of this information.
- Test all spotting products in an inconspicuous area before use. Look for fading, staining, bleeding or other changes to textiles. If changes happen or you are unsure how to proceed, please consult a professional.
- Always remove as much of a spill as quickly as possible before adding spotting products. For liquids, blot with a towel. For solids, use a dull knife to scrape from surface.
- Blot, never scrub a spot.
- Work from the outer edges of a spot to the center.
- Spot with small amounts of cleaning products.
RECOMMENDED CLEANING SOLUTIONS
- Mild detergent solution: Use 2-4 drops to a cup of cold water. We recommend: Soil Away, Bio-Clean All Purpose Cleaner, Planet Detergent, Seventh Generation.
- Vinegar Solution: 1-2 tablespoons to a cup of cold water.
- Ammonia Solution: 1 teaspoon to a cup of cold water.
- Dry Cleaning Solvent: Energene or Rubbing Alcohol available at most grocery stores. Use straight out of the bottle by applying to a towel and blotting spots.
- Water: Rinse with water, then blot dry. Some spots are better handled by professional rug cleaners. Examples include: pet urine stains, ink or dried wine.
